Line Origin Icons
People on the site may show anything from 0 to 6 Flag Icons immediately after their names. The purpose of these is to show how many of the 6 areas of interest the person has connections to. Each of the 6 defined areas has its own basic colour as shown on the flag. The flag will be either plain, or contain one of the letters F, O or M.
In all honesty the designation of a person's oldest line is not to be taken too seriously. The absence of detailed birth/baptismal data prior to 1825 (or later in many cases) means that the year of birth of line founders has more often than not been estimated or taken from unreliable sources such as age at death and, as such, cannnot be regarded as, in many cases, other than indicative.
